Cleveland Browns WR trade target No. 2: Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

Michael Thomas was once one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. However, over the last three seasons, he’s been sidelined due to major injuries and has only played in 10 games since 2020.

Early in his career, the former Ohio State Buckeye exploded as he went over the 1,000-yard mark in each of his first four years. The majority of his 6,121 career yards receiving were recorded in that span. His best season statistically, was in 2019 when he caught 149 passes for 1,725 yards which also included nine touchdowns.

Thomas again is in the news as a potential trade target, but his durability concerns make him a risky addition to any team. This offseason the Saints will either be releasing or trading the former Pro Bowler and All-Pro. Of course, chances are high that the Saints will try to strike a deal and get back some draft picks in a trade before it comes to that/=.

Imagining Deshaun Watson having the opportunity to pass the ball to Amari Cooper or Michael Thomas on the other side of the offense sounds very appealing. Thomas had such an amazing career to start with and will likely catch on with another team this offseason. This could be a win-win situation for both Cleveland and Thomas, but there’s a huge ‘if’ that has to be factored in.
