3 free agents the Cleveland Browns likely won’t consider

Free Agent No. 1 – Daron Payne, Defensive Tackle
Believe me when I tell you, no one is more frustrated with the Cleveland Browns defensive tackle play the last three seasons than me. I don’t care how good your defense is, if you can’t clog the gaps up the middle it’s going to be difficult for your defense to be successful.
For three consecutive off-seasons, the thought has been that a major add at defensive tackle was coming. And while I think Berry will finally make a move after adding Jim Schwartz as the defensive coordinator, it’s not going to be Daron Payne who everyone is currently fantasizing about.
Payne not only had 11.5 sacks and 64 tackles in 2022, but he is also only 25 years old and has only missed one game in his NFL career. Trust me, everyone in the NFL would love to have this guy, but Berry isn’t going to pay a defensive tackle $20 million per year which Payne could easily get.
While I do think Payne will be changing teams, he’s either going somewhere and getting a truck backed up to his bank, or he will take a slight discount and go to an instant contender looking for a major upgrade at their interior defensive line.
Don’t panic though Browns fans, there are a good number of free agents available at this position. Guys like Javon Hargrave, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Sheldon Rankings would also be fantastic fits and be at a price Berry could justify.
