The NFL free agency period is right around the corner and the Browns will look to make upgrades and also look to retain some of their own free agents.

While the NFL season may be winding down with the Super Bowl being two weeks away, the free agency talk is about to heat up. The Cleveland Browns should be quite busy this offseason, as there are plenty of holes to fill.

Andrew Berry and company will be looking to make upgrades at various positions, but will also be in the market for their own guys about to hit free agency. Certain free agents-to-be will surely not be back, but there will be others that the team would like to retain.

These three players are guys that the Browns cannot afford to lose in the 2023 offseason.

No. 3: Ethan Pocic – Center

Thinking back to the 2022 free agency period, it’s hard not to make the argument that center Ethan Pocic was the best signing of that time.

Andrew Berry signed Pocic as a depth piece for the offensive line, but early into the preseason, Pocic would be called upon when starting center Nick Harris was lost due to injury. Might have been a blessing in disguise for the Browns in 2022.

Pocic stepped up and inherited the role of center and played the position tremendously, earning him a nice chunk of change here in a few weeks. Ideally, Berry and the Browns will do what they can to bring Pocic back, but that might be a steeper price than they want to pay.

After having a Pro Bowl and All-Pro-like year, Pocic raised his stock and will likely get a three or four-year deal for about $7 million a year. This is a reason that DPD’s own, Greg Newland thinks that Pocic is likely not on this roster in 2023.
