Veteran wide receiver Jerry Jeudy desperately needs to have a bounce-back year in 2026. Unfortunately, he isn’t off to the best start in training camp for the Cleveland Browns. It has been reported that Jeudy is dropping passes, something that really hurt him last season, and that rookie receivers Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion have already passed him up.
Of course, it’s still extremely early, and the veteran wideout still has time to pull it all together and have a big year in 2026. However, the training camp drops have led many fans to wonder if it’s time for the Browns to just part ways with Jeudy. Since he’s struggling and Cleveland has two promising new receivers, why not just move on?
While some fans would be happy to end the Jeudy era, the reality is he probably isn’t going anywhere soon, and that’s the right decision.

First and foremost, Jeudy absolutely needs to play better and be a more consistent catcher. While the reported drops in practice are a problem, it is still training camp, which means he has a chance to correct the issue. Of course, drops consistently being an issue for the receiver doesn’t give fans much confidence that he will get things figured out.
Either way, the reality in Cleveland is that Jeudy is still one of the team’s top four receivers. While the additions of Concepcion and Boston have been exciting, the Browns aren’t in a place where they can just start offloading receivers. The group needs depth, and an inconsistent Jerry Jeudy is a part of that depth.
Even with his struggles, it would be a bad idea for the Browns to enter the season by taking him out of the wide receiver room without adding a worthy replacement. Additionally, Cleveland is unlikely to be offered a trade package that would make trading Jeudy make sense.
The veteran wide receiver has two years left on his deal, and the best path forward for Cleveland is seeing if he can recapture the magic of his Pro Bowl 2024 season, when he caught 90 passes for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns. If the answer is yes, the Browns could have an elite receiving corps. If the answer is no, Cleveland will get what they can out of him and then decide his future next offseason.
Either way, Jerry Jeudy should make it to the 2026 regular season as a member of the Cleveland Browns.
