Sunday’s game between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers is what sports are all about. The two teams are division rivals, and they are both entering the Week 8 matchup at 5-2, with first place in the AFC North on the line.

To make things even better, the two teams don’t like each other.

The Browns made that clear after they defeated Pittsburgh on Thursday Night Football in Week 4 of this season. Not satisfied with just winning, Cleveland had some things to say after the game. Edge defender Jared Verse led the way, accusing the Steelers offensive line of being dirty, and letting it be known that he doesn’t have respect for dirty players. Verse went on to say that he can’t wait to see Pittsburgh again.

Well, it’s time to see them again, and those comments have made it to the Steelers.

With Sunday’s game taking place in Pittsburgh, Verse will have a big target on his back from fans and players — and he has to deliver.

Steelers are ready to address Jared Verse’s comments ahead of rematch with Browns

Pittsburgh leader Cam Heyward was recently on The Rich Eisen Show, so naturally, Eisen played Verse’s comments for Heyward. The veteran defensive tackle gave Cleveland credit for the season it has put together thus far, including the Browns’ win over the Steelers. But Heyward also made it clear that Verse’s words will be addressed.

That’s what rivalries are all about, and it’s safe to say that Verse isn’t ducking any smoke. He knew that when he said what he said, it would get back to Pittsburgh’s players. As a brash trash talker who plays with an in-your-face style, Verse certainly welcomes that. Now it’s time for him to back up his words.

The Browns defense has been good this season, and Verse has certainly been a part of that. The talented edge defender hasn’t recorded a sack yet, but he has been a productive defender, posting 17 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and five quarterback hits. With the bullseye that’s going to be on him this week, it’d be a great time for Verse to get his first sack as a Brown.

Getting sacks on Aaron Rodgers can often be tough since he gets the ball out so fast, but it wasn’t difficult for Cleveland in Week 4. The defense finished the game with five sacks, and they really bullied the Pittsburgh offense for most of the game. The Browns will be hoping for an even more dominant performance as they look to sweep the Steelers for the first time since the 1988 season.
