The Cleveland Browns hosted the Buffalo Bills for a joint practice on Thursday, and Cleveland made it clear it was using the day as a test — a measuring stick of sorts. It’s fair to say the Browns passed, because immediately after the practice, head coach Todd Monken was excited about how his team competed, and refused to back down against the perennially contending Buffalo.

The player who led the way for Cleveland was rookie wideout KC Concepcion. The first-round pick was reportedly the MVP of the day, making several big catches against the Bills’ top defensive unit. While the huge plays would’ve been enough to satisfy fans, Concepcion took things to another level by displaying his competitive mindset.

Joint practices have a tendency to get tense, and Thursday’s practice between Cleveland and Buffalo was no different. While the two teams didn’t have any major scuffles, both sides were talking, and Concepcion had a lot to say.

Some of the receiver’s talk was captured in a viral clip, in which Concepcion caught a screen pass from Shedeur Sanders, and got upfield to run the ball in for a touchdown. After scoring, the young wideout looked directly at the row of media members with their cameras out and said, “They s—. I’m telling you.”

KC Concepcion continues to win over Browns fans with his mentality

The Bills defense did their fair share of talking, most notably calling out Cleveland for completing short passes. However, Concepcion did have an explosive grab on a deep pass from Deshaun Watson, and when he got up off the ground, he let Buffalo’s sideline hear it.

After catching the ball between two defenders, the receiver got to his feet, gestured for a first down, then pointed directly at the Bills sideline. Concepcion spent the next 10 seconds pointing and talking, in a spirited manner, to Buffalo’s defense as he jogged back to the Browns’ sideline.

As a fan, how could you not love that? The rookie receiver is making big plays and firing back at anybody that comes for him and his team. That’s the exact mindset a team wants from a first-round player who is expected to be a difference maker for the franchise.

This is just the latest example of Concepcion‘s endearing mentality. After his impressive touchdown run in Cleveland’s first preseason game, the wideout let it be known that he takes pride in not getting tackled by cornerbacks. Some fans argued that he shouldn’t be so quick to talk like that, especially since he hasn’t played in the regular season yet, but Concepcion is making it clear that he doesn’t care about any of that.

He’s a baller, and he’s not ducking any smoke, and that’s exactly why the Browns drafted him.
