In this space and abroad, few have been shy to applaud Andrew Berry for his efforts in the 2025 NFL Draft. Encouraging signs from all three of the Browns' top picks — defensive tackle Mason Graham, running back Quinshon Judkins, and linebacker Carson Schwesinger — contributed to that consensus. The Browns even got an outsized contribution from Shedeur Sanders relative to his fifth-round draft pedigree.
That's not where it ends, though. Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. was wildly impressive in his debut season. The Bowling Green product racked up 72 receptions for 731 yards and six touchdowns en route to a rock-solid 67.9 Pro Football Focus grade. What's more, the receiving chops he displayed in college translated smoothly to the pros, exemplified by his 76.4 receiving grade.
Admittedly, there is some room for improvement as a blocker. It's nonetheless clear that Fannin Jr.'s potential is limitless. As the Browns remade their receiving corps this offseason, he had been flying under the radar. Ahead of the Browns' Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jags head coach Liam Coen made it clear that they've got an eye on Harold Fannin Jr.
"I’m a huge fan of [Harold Fannin Jr.]. I loved him coming out of Bowling Green. I thought he was super underrated last year [after] watching the tape. I’m watching him block — I think it was Micah Parsons on a duo and he was in-line and he held his own and had a stalemate there and it was a good run, then you see him flexed out running wheel routes and option routes, and then he goes all the way out to be the single receiver and he’s running daggers and like 20-yard ins."
"I think it’s a good fit for [Browns head coach Todd Monken] and for what he likes to do, and you saw what he did with [Isaiah Likely] in Baltimore as well. So, I gotta believe there’s going to be some of those parts of Fannin’s game that are going to be able to translate to what Monk likes to do with some of those tight ends."

Todd Monken does, in fact, have a demonstrated affinity for his tight ends. While the Ravens sank to 18th in the league last season in terms of yardage from the tight end position group, that can be attributed in part to a decrease in total passing as quarterback Lamar Jackson dealt with injuries in 2025. In 2024, they ranked fourth after placing eighth in 2023.
Even when Monken wasn't necessarily targeting a tight end, he was still using them a ton. The Ravens used 12-personnel (one running back, two tight ends) at the third-highest rate in the league last season. In other words, Harold Fannin Jr. may be about to feast for the Browns this season.
It should come as a welcome development for Browns fans. It's natural that the new kids on the block — rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston — have garnered a lot of the praise. Still, at just 22 years old, no one should be sleeping on Harold Fannin Jr. If the youngsters are able to put up similar rookie seasons to Fannin Jr.'s this season, the Browns will have a potent passing attack brewing in Cleveland.
Whether they have a quarterback to take advantage of it? Now that's a different question entirely.
