The Browns and Texans can solve two glaring roster problems with one trade

Let's get it done.

The Cleveland Browns went from desperately needing a playmaker to potentially having one too many. Their wide receiver room underwent a major overhaul, with multiple young players looking like stars in the making.

On the flip side, they don't have much depth at cornerback. Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell create a strong tandem, but this team might be an injury away from a crisis at the position.

Considering that, and given the seemingly positive relationship between the two front offices, perhaps the Houston Texans and Browns can help one another out. The Texans need a pass catcher, and the Browns could use one of their many defensive pieces.

The Browns and Texans have exactly what the other team needs

As things stand now, the injury-prone Cedric Tillman looks like a long shot to make the Browns' 53-man roster. He's lost some ground to Isaiah Bond, and the Browns seem to love Gage Larvadain, Tylan Wallace, and Luke Floriea. Even Malachi Corley might be in better graces with the organization.

That said, the Texans might not want to add yet another injured wide receiver to their already decimated corps. That could make Jerry Jeudy a more intriguing piece, and as a former first-round pick who's still in his prime, he might even have a higher trade value.

The Texans have the most physical defense in the game, so any guy coming from DeMeco Ryans' team should fit like a glove in Mike Rutenberg's system. They worked together in San Francisco in 2020, so they might even run similar schemes.

The Browns would ideally target 2025 draft pick Jaylin Smith in any trade, but even if he's off the table, a Texans third-stringer would probably beat most of the guys they have scrambling for a roster spot right now.

Undrafted free agent Michael Coats Jr. has been a pleasant surprise, and he should be in the mix for the CB3 spot. Other than that, Tre Avery has made some plays and picked off Deshaun Watson a couple of times in training camp, but there's not much more to brag about.

The Texans lost Jayden Higgins for the season while Tank Dell is still working his way back from a major injury of his own, so they might be desperate enough to let one of their promising pieces go, especially with a lockdown specialist like Derek Stingley Jr. rarely sitting for a play.

This looks like a match made in heaven; it's one of those rare win-win situations where no team would even have to give up draft capital to address an obvious need.
