Roster Move: Browns Get to 75 Place OL on Reserve List

facebooktwitterreddit

Today by 4PM all teams had to be at 75 people on their roster. Earlier today the Cleveland Browns placed two players on Injured Reserve list to get to 76. There was some discussion that the Browns would not have to make another roster move to get to 75 due to Marlon Moore‘s 1 game suspension that he will have to serve. Josh Gordon‘s situation, we shared the most recent crazy update with you here, also seemed to be looming.

Instead the Browns placed offensive lineman Nick McDonald on the Reserve/Non-Gootball Injury list:

McDonald was claimed off waivers by the Browns from the San Diego Chargers. McDonald is entering his third season after being an undrafted free agent in 2010. He has played in a total of 16 games and started 3 of them. The Browns have been active in adding offensive linemen this off-season and don’t seem to be overly content with the group they currently have.

By placing McDonald on the Reserve list the Browns can decide what to do with him later in the season. McDonald has been out with a wrist injury that could of led to his placement on this list. Whether the Browns bring him back when eligible will depend on his recovery, development and what other players the Browns bring in between now and then.

Again expect the team to take every opportunity to churn the bottom of the roster to make it align with their new schemes. Keeping McDonald around, instead of just cutting him, means they see something in him that they like.

Why they had to cut someone given Moore’s suspension, as well as Gordon’s on going issue, is a question we don’t currently have an answer for.

What do you think of the Browns offensive line so far this off-season?
