Breaking: Johnny Manziel to Enter Rehab
The Cleveland Browns have no clue what to do with Johnny Manziel. There was a ton of concern that Johnny Manziel didn’t know what to do with himself. It looks like he has figured something out as he is reportedly entering rehab at this time:
Cabot was the first we saw to have this story. She continues on to tweet some more details. Here is the full statement that Cabot received and posted in her report:
"“Brad Beckworth, a friend and advisor to Manziel and his family, has confirmed that Johnny entered treatment on Wednesday,” the statement read. “Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the off-season was the right time to take this step.”"
At this time it is not known what type of treatment Manziel is entering rehab for. While most think of rehabilitation treatment as only related to some sort of addiction, it can mean plenty of things. Most likely it is substance related but rehab should help him address the myriad of needs that led him to make some of the decisions he makes.

As a counselor, from the outside (way outside) looking it, it seems that Manziel’s struggles are related to his self esteem. His need to be accepted, liked, wanted seems to be a driving force in his life. Much like that kid in high school or college, or some adults even, who gets the loud car, throws the big parties or does the outrageous stunts to get noticed, Manziel has been on that path.
One has to wonder if Josh Gordon‘s latest issues could have played a role for Manziel? Gordon’s letter blamed his upbringing and the difficultly of growing up in the inner city, Manziel doesn’t have those concerns. Yet he should be worried about his career going down hill quickly, much like Gordon.
We will have more on this story as things develop as well as more details on what rehab is like.
