Josh Gordon Comments on Dwayne Bowe Signing
Dwayne Bowe will attempt to replace Josh Gordon as the Cleveland Browns top wide receiver. It is possible that the Browns draft a top flight receiver in the NFL Draft but, at least for now, Bowe is the Browns best receiver. Gordon, the high upside, big fast and dominate young receiver, is suspended for the entire 2015 season. That suspension came down shortly after the end of the 2014 season.
Most believe that Gordon has seen his last snap as a Brown. The belief is that this strike is the last one that Ray Farmer and Mike Pettine will allow and that Gordon will either but cut or traded once he is reinstated.
Gordon took to Twitter to comment on the Browns’ signing of Bowe:
Interesting choice of words from Gordon. “Hold it down for me” is common vernacular meaning Gordon wants Bowe to take care of things until he gets back. That means, at least with the tweet, that Gordon plans on returning to the Browns.
He also uses an interesting hashtag #newbrowns. We haven’t seen that hashtag used much, if at all, by the Browns or Browns players. It is very possible we missed it. Besides Gordon’s use, and re-tweets that followed, the last time it was used was related to the team’s new logo, and those were not pretty.
Bowe and Gordon also are connected by substance related suspensions. Bowe was suspended for the 1st game of last season for the use of marijuana. He was also suspended for 4 games for use of performance enhancing drugs.

Reports are that Bowe signed a two year deal with the Browns. Should Gordon commit to the plan the NFL has for him and get reinstated, the combination of Bowe and Gordon would make for the best pair of receivers that the Browns have had since returning. Andrew Hawkins, Brian Hartline and Taylor Gabriel would add to a solid group for whoever is behind center. Imagine Bowe, Gordon and one of the Top 3 receivers, Amari Cooper, Devante Parker and Kevin White, all on the Browns next season. Unlikely but exciting.
For now we find it interesting that Gordon commented on Bowe’s signing. He also tweeted to Jordan Cameron, Buster Skrine and Jabaal Sheard when they signed leaving the Browns. No comments on any other of the players the Browns signed so far this year but he did comment to Brandon Marshall when he was traded.
