Cleveland Browns: 5 best decisions this offseason
"2016 is setting up to be a year of transition for the Cleveland Browns. This is not a transition from a perennial loser into a playoff team, but change is seemingly on the horizon. Owner Jimmy Haslam brought in a whole new group to run the front office, and the group has said and done all the right things so far."
Hiring Earnest Byner would be a great move
"Earnest Byner is a Cleveland Browns legend who has the unlucky distinction of being associated with one of the team’s most heartbreaking moments. The clip of Byner fumbling against the Denver Broncos will continue to be shown until the Browns return to greatness, which is the goal of Hue Jackson as he leads the team into the 2016 season."
Cleveland Browns: Who is Adam Beard?
"The Cleveland Browns are going full steam ahead on their latest rebuilding efforts in an attempt to wake the team from a slumber that enveloped the franchise since 1999. The work has extended from the front office to the coaching staff and a rebuilt roster and, perhaps most interestingly, to the weight room where Adam Beard has taken over as the team’s director of high performance."
Cleveland Browns: Running backs are the new main focus
"The Cleveland Browns surprised many by selecting four wide receivers in the 2016 NFL Draft. Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Rashard Higgins and Jordan Payton will be joining the Browns in a clear shakeup to the wide receiver position. With Travis Benjamin joining the San Diego Chargers and Brian Hartline being released, the position is open for the rookies to take over."
Cleveland Browns: A rebuilt offensive line in 2016
"The offensive line was supposed to be the strength of the Cleveland Browns heading into the 2015 season. Unfortunately, it did not turn out that way. There are two main reasons for this. First, the Browns tried to combine a zone running scheme with a vertical passing game. Second, once the Browns finally changed to a Power run scheme, the players did not fit the scheme."
Josh McCown is not a fan of QB uncertainty (Factory of Sadness)
"Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown had some interesting thoughts regarding the team’s quarterback position while on the Hey Tony show, hosted by Tony Grossi on ESPN 850 WKNR. It is safe to say the veteran quarterback wishes a clearer picture would be obvious by now."
Prisco: RGIII worst quarterback in AFC North (247 Sports)
"The Cleveland Browns are headed down a path where Robert Griffin III is their starting quarterback in the Week One game against the Philadelphia Eagles which is not good according to Pete Prisco of CBS Sports. Prisco ranked each of the projected starting quarterbacks in the NFL and RGIII was ranked No. 30."
NFL News:
NFL players react to the death of Muhammad Ali (NFL.com)
"Muhammad Ali, considered one of greatest boxers of all-time and a sporting icon, died on Friday, his representative Bob Gunnell announced. He was 74. A three-time world heavyweight champion, Ali died after being admitted to a Phoenix hospital Thursday for a respiratory issue, Gunnell said. Ali’s funeral will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, according to Gunnell. “The Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support and asks for privacy at this time,” Gunnell wrote in a statement."
Aqib Talib camp claiming Dallas shooting was ‘accidental’ (FanSided)
"The weekend brought about some pretty grim news from the NFL. Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was reportedly shot in the leg at a Dallas nightclub but was released on Sunday without life threatening injuries."
Eagles coach maintains Sam Bradford is the starter (CBS Sports)
"Give Sam Bradford credit. Despite his status in the league as a consistently inconsistent quarterback, he’s somehow managed to dominate the offseason headlines. So far, most of those stories have been tilted against Bradford, as his mini holdout in the aftermath of the Eagles trading for the No. 2 overall pick and drafting Carson Wentz wasn’t well received."
