Daily Dawg Tags: Is Josh Gordon’s turn coming up?
By Thomas Moore
The NFL reinstated Martavis Bryant and Daryl Washington on Tuesday. Does that mean the Cleveland Browns are about to get word on Josh Gordon?
It was a busy day around the NFL on Tuesday as the league conditionally reinstated Pittsburgh Steeler Martavis Bryant and Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington.
Bryant missed the entire 2016 season after being suspended for numerous violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. Washington had been suspended since 2014 for violating the substance abuse policy. He hasn’t played since 2013 due to multiple suspensions.
Which has us wondering if Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is next.
Gordon, who has not played in a regular season game since late in the 2014 season, reportedly filed for reinstatement on March 1. At that time, it was reported that the league would rule shortly before or after the 2017 NFL Draft, which takes place this weekend.
If Bryant and Washington are back, it would seem like Gordon’s turn should be coming up fairly soon.
That could also explain all the chatter about the Browns looking to swing a draft day trade to move up in the first round. Perhaps they have advance word from the league office that Gordon is on the cusp of being let back into the league, and the Browns are planning to package him in any potential deal.
Hey, it’s draft season! Weirder things have happened.

Myles Garrett built to be a top overall draft pick (Sports on Earth)
"Myles Garrett has patterned his game after legends like Derrick Thomas, Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor. He has the physique and poise to make it happen. The athletic ability defies comparison in many ways, but his closest relatives are Jadeveon Clowney, of course, and other stars like Khalil Mack and Mario Williams."
Browns discussed trading up with three teams in top 8 (NFL.com)
"Two days out from the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns are starting to make some moves. Owners of the first and 12th overall draft picks, and in need of a franchise quarterback, it was long suggested that Cleveland might use its bounty of early-round selections to package picks and move up to hand-select its quarterback of the future. Numerous reports out of Cleveland suggest that man is North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky."

Jets need to avoid QB temptation in the draft (New York Daily News)
"Loyalty in pro sports is a myth perpetuated by those that will discard you the moment you don’t serve their needs. It’s the ultimate scam, a hoax filled with endless hot air. The victims range from overhyped rookies to fading stars. The eternal bottom line: If you can’t play well enough, you’re out. It’s a way of life in this line of work."
Ranking the Top 10 quarterback draft prospects (PFF)
"The quarterback class has a number of question marks at the top, and there is no consensus as to which signal-caller will be the best option a few years down the road. Perhaps more than ever, each quarterback’s situation will determine their success, as all of the top players have strengths to accentuate, but also weaknesses to hide at the next level. There are a few quarterbacks with starting ability at the top of the draft to go with a number of potential backups who should be available in the mid-to-late rounds."
