Daily Dawg Tags: The wisdom of Joe Thomas
By Thomas Moore
Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas is doing what he can to teach rookie defensive end Myles Garrett the finer points of life in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns are expecting that No. 1 overall selection Myles Garrett will make a tangible and immediate impact on the defense.
Left tackle Joe Thomas, who will face Garrett on a regular basis in training camp, is doing his part to accelerate Garrett’s transition to the NFL. And while they have only squared up a few times in practice, Thomas likes what he has seen so far, according to clevelandbrowns.com:
"“I can easily see when he is out there the reasons why you make him the No. 1 pick. He has an athleticism and ability to bend and run that few players in the NFL have. The way he works at it, the way that he analyzes his game after every practice and the way he studies. It is easy to understand why he was the consensus No. 1 pick.”"
There is no doubt that going up against Thomas as much as possible will only improve Garrett’s game as he won’t see a better left tackle across the line of scrimmage during the season. The work that is being done now should only help make the payoff that much better and arrive that much sooner.
