The Cleveland Browns will likely have Myles Garrett on Sunday vs. the New York Jets, but the injury report reveals some potential problems elsewhere.

The Cleveland Browns released their second injury report on Thursday for their Week 5 game with the New York Jets and there is some good news, depending on your perspective, and some very good news.

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Kenny Britt did not practice for the second consecutive day as he is dealing with a knee and groin injury. Things could certainly change between now and Sunday, but if he hasn’t practice all week it seems likely that Britt could miss the game against the Jets.

If that comes to pass, that will leave the Browns thin at wide receiver as Sammie Coates has been limited in practice this week with his ongoing hamstring issues. That means that Bryce Treggs, signed just this week off the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles, could see game action on Sunday, head coach Hue Jackson told clevelandbrowns.com:

"“We will figure it out. We have to keep figuring it out — next man up. You guys have never heard me complain about any of that. That is just part of the National Football League. Nobody likes it, but nobody cares. Next guy up, and we will find a way to get it done.”"

A lack of viable options in the passing game, at least when it comes to the wide receivers,  shouldn’t be a big issue this week, however, as the Browns still have running back Duke Johnson and tight ends David Njoku and Seth DeValve. The Jets also come into the game with the 29th-ranked run defense as they are giving up 143.8 yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry.

That would seem to signal that the Browns should run the ball (and then run it some more), but there is no telling what the offensive coordinator has planned for the game.

On defense, the best news is the defensive end Myles Garrett has participated in practice all week. He is still listed as limited and Jackson told the team’s website that he plans to limit his playing time against the Jets, but Garrett’s return is going to be a major boost to the defense.

"“He is just now getting back to practice a week ago. He has put together a week and a half of practice, but still, he has been off for quite a while, too. I think we have to be smart about our expectations of him this weekend.”"

Garrett’s expected debut loses a little bit of shine, however, as linebacker Jamie Collins remains in the league’s concussion protocol and will surely miss his third consecutive game, while defensive tackles Danny Shelton and Jamie Meder, along with cornerback Jamar Taylor, have all been limited in practice this week.

Not having two of the main guys in the middle of the defensive could be problematic as the Jets, who come into the game averaging 4.9 yards per carry and pounded the Jacksonville Jaguars for 256 rushing yards last week, will have no reservations about trying to run the ball.
