The Cleveland Browns will be without defensive end Myles Garrett on Sunday, one of several defenders who are struggling with injuries.

The hits keep on coming for the Cleveland Browns as rookie defensive end Myles Garrett will miss Sunday’s game as he is in the league’s concussion protocol.

Garrett has been a disruptive player when he has been on the field as he has four sacks in three games. He missed the first four games of the season with a high-ankle sprain and will now miss yet another game.

It’s rough, but beyond everyone’s control. The good news is that the Browns have a bye week after Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, which gives Garrett a considerable amount of time to recover.

Garrett may not be the only defensive player missing on Sunday, as linebacker Jamie Collins, cornerback Jason McCourty, defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi, safety Jabrill Peppers, cornerback Jamar Taylor and defensive lineman Trevon Coley are all dealing with various ailments.

Easy to see slippery slope to 0-16 (ohio.com)

"Everyone thought the Browns hit rock bottom last year when they went 1-15, but this season, they’re reminding their fans a new low is possible. The Browns, 0-7 for the third time since their rebirth in 1999 and the second year in a row, are in danger of joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as the second team in NFL history to finish a season 0-16."

NFL news:

Time to shut down Andrew Luck for 2017 (ESPN)

"If the Indianapolis Colts could skip ahead and simulate the remainder of the 2017 season, you suspect they would happily fast-forward to February. Chuck Pagano’s team has avoided the ignominy surrounding the 49ers and Browns by winning two of its first seven games, doing so specifically by beating those two teams by three points each. The Colts have lost their other five games by a combined 109 points. Football Outsiders believes that the Colts — not their winless brethren — are the worst team in football on a play-by-play basis."

Cardinals place Carson Palmer on injured reserve (azcentral.com)

"The Cardinals placed quarterback Carson Palmer on injured reserve on Thursday, damaging hopes he could return this season and raising the question if he’ll play for the team again."

What we know about Dont’a Hightower’s season-ending injury (boston.com)

"According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Dont’a Hightower successfully underwent surgery on Thursday to repair his torn pectoral muscle, and will  be out for the rest of the season. Rapoport added that the Patriots linebacker is expected to make a full recovery for 2018."

Dolphins leave Baltimore defeated, frustrated (Miami Herald)

"Defeated and frustrated. That’s how the Miami Dolphins left the scene of Thursday night’s blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. You knew about the defeated part. Everyone saw the 40-0 whipping on national television. And you had to have some sense of the frustration the Dolphins felt because the game got chippy."
