Cleveland Browns: Malcolm Butler or Trumaine Johnson in 2018 NFL Free Agency
By Randy Gurzi
Trumaine Johnson, 28-years old, 6 years experience
According to Pro Football Focus, Trumain Johnson had a down year in 2017. He was rated in the 80s in 2015 and 2016 before falling to 74.2 this season. It’s easy to say that it was on him, but the team did go through a coaching change — including a move from defensive coordinator Greg Williams to Wade Phillips.
Williams is now in Cleveland, and the success Johnson enjoyed with him could open the door for the team and player to have a healthy dialogue.

Johnson may not be on the radar as much now, but it wasn’t that long ago that the team favored him to the highly talented Janoris Jenkins — who left the Rams to go strike it rich with the New York Giants. He has the ideal size to go up against any receiver and played well in run support in addition to his duties as a cover guy.
The veteran defensive back also showed fatigue is no issue with him. He logged more than 1,000 snaps for Los Angeles, which was more than any player outside of offensive linemen. Whoever locks him up will be getting a solid player.
