Daily Dawg Tags: Kiper can’t decide, now says Cleveland Browns pick Barkley
By Randy Gurzi
Once again we bring you the Daily Dawg Tags, a collection of all the Cleveland Browns news, as well as the rest of the NFL, you need to know
Good morning Cleveland Browns fans. We once again bring to you the Daily Dawg Tags, which is a collection of all the news stories you need to know.
Of course right now the news cycle is spinning slowly. There’s little going on besides rumors, with the NFL Draft taking center stage.
That will only ramp up more as the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine kicks off next week — Feb. 27. As for the Browns, that draft discussion is all about who they will pick with the No. 1 overall pick, and ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Jr. is at it again.
He recently said the Browns should pick Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen, but now says there’s a scenario where he thinks they could go running back Saquon Barkley and take a quarterback at No. 4. That’s clearly a better option than simply taking Allen, but who knows what the team is thinking.
As for the Kiper news, that and much more can be found below in our daily news links. Enjoy.

Cleveland Browns: Is Mel Kiper right about Josh Allen?
Mel Kiper, Jr. has said some goofy things during his tenure with ESPN, and he may be at it again. While most other pundits are arguing over Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma, Sam Darnold from USC or Josh Rosen from UCLA, Kiper throws Josh Allen out of Wyoming into the mix. He;s got a strong arm, but is he really a leader and a winner?
"Will the Browns bring Terrelle Pryor back to the place where it all began for him as a receiver? We have the answer for you in the video above. And what about Corey Coleman, the Browns’ 2016 No. 15 overall pick? What do they need from him in 2018 and might a new role be best?"
Mel Kiper sees scenario where Browns take Saquon Barkley first, QB fourth
"Kiper’s reasoning: If the Browns have close grades on two or three quarterbacks, they could easily take Barkley first. Kiper already has gone on record saying Barkley is the best player in the draft."

"Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen is a polarizing player in this year’s draft, with some viewing him as the likely first overall pick to the Browns, and others viewing him as too flawed a passer to justify going first overall."

"In retrospect, it’s not surprising that Julius Thomas’ best years came when Peyton Manning was throwing him the ball. In 2013 and 2014, the tight end, then with the Broncos, caught 108 passes for 1,277 yards and 24 touchdowns. Those gaudy numbers prompted the Jaguars to give Thomas a five-year, $46 million deal in March 2015."
