Next up is a potential workhorse running back in LSU’s Derrius Guice. While Guice was surely in consideration at No. 33, the Browns played the numbers game here.

Drafting between them at No. 34 is the New York Giants, who took Penn State running back Saquon Barkley at No. 2 overall. That means the only way they don’t land Guice here is if someone moves up to the Giants’ spot.

While that’s possible, the drop off between Guice and someone like Georgia’s Nick Chubb isn’t as great as Hurst and any other defensive tackle. Still, there’s a huge probability Guice is still here and if so, the Browns would be wise to snatch him up.

In Cleveland, Guice will join a crowded backfield that contains Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson. This won’t bother him as he once had to split carries with Leonard Fournette while at LSU.

With Fournette still in town, Guice put up his best numbers during the 2016 season. Guice ran for 1,387 yards off 183 carries — good for a 7.6 yard per rush average. He also found the end zone 15 times. His numbers in 2017 weren’t as impressive but 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns is hardly anything to be ashamed of.
