Cleveland Browns rookie Antonio Callaway says the failed drug test at the combine was on him — duh — and then reminds us how great a person he is

Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey had a pretty solid debut draft. He potentially found a starting quarterback, a shut down corner, a left tackle and even a bruising running back.

All that was great, but there was one big “what the heck” pick. In the fourth-round, the Browns moved up to select Florida wide out Antonio Callaway. What makes this pick so shaky was the multiple suspensions for Callaway while at Florida — as well as his failed drug test at the Scouting Combine.

But fear not Cleveland fans, Callaway says that was on him. To that we say, no kidding.

But don’t worry, he didn’t stop there. He also reminded us he has a daughter so that we will all believe the myriad of off field issues are in the past.

"“I had a diluted sample,” Callaway said per Dan Graziano of ESPN. “I didn’t intentionally do it, but I take responsibility for my test. That was a wake-up call, but like I’ve said, day by day I’m still getting better as a person, as a player, as a man, as a father. I’ve got a daughter. She’s going to be 3 months old next week.”"

After missing all of 2017 due to his second suspension at Florida, it would have seemed Callaway would have been on his best behavior as he looks for a job. Instead, he screwed up the drug test and the Browns still drafted him.

Florida suspended the receiver after he was accused of sexual assault and he spent the year watching football. He claimed after that to be a changed man, but the failed test showed otherswise.

Some may point to safety Jabrill Peppers also failing a test at the Combine, which also made his drafting questionable. However, Peppers didn’t have a heinous accusation hanging over his head on top of said failed test.

Next: Enough of the stolen slogans

The pick of Callaway was a huge head scratcher, and his latest “admission” makes no sense. The fact is we all know a failed test is on you — it was after all your urine. As for the rest, how about more action and less talking about action that has yet to take place.
