Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson somehow kept his job despite winning just one game the past two seasons, but how hot is his seat in 2018?

Yes, the seat for Hue Jackson is hot. Very hot. It has to be as the Cleveland Browns have been 1-31 under his coaching.

The question though is this: how hot is his seat?

It was assumed by most he would be canned after going 0-16, especially with a new general manager running the show. That didn’t happen though as John Dorsey stuck with Jackson so far and now the second-luckiest coach in Ohio gets another season — and a new roster.

Jackson now has a better quarterback in Tyrod Taylor and some other new weapons like receiver Jarvis Landry and running back Carlos Hyde. They also added a lot to the defense with Denzel Ward and E.J. Gaines at corner and maybe even Mychal Kendricks at linebacker — depending on who is reporting what at this hour.

All these moves help, but until they win, Hue is still sitting firmly on a chair that’s smoldering hot. He was even featured in a piece from ESPN as one of the coaches to watch as they sit uncomfortably in their burning seat.

"“Jackson seemed to defy the odds when new general manager John Dorsey retained him, but with a 1-31 record over two seasons, will he have staying power?” — Mike Sando, ESPN"

But will Dorsey pull the trigger if Jackson struggles? The general manager did draft Baker Mayfield first overall knowing that he needed to be coached up to be a starter. He also did this knowing Hue Jackson was the coach.

Is it possible that the hot seat only exists outside of the building? Could it be that Dorsey gave Jackson this season to implement a new offense with Todd Haley calling the plays as another potential mulligan season?

Hopefully the team starts to play better and none of this matters, but even if they do lose don’t expect Jackson to be on the way out too quickly. We’ve all seen his Houdini act before.
