By Randy Gurzi

The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including former players Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins on the baseball diamond
The slow season for the Cleveland Browns continues to creep along, but we keep scouring the internet for all the news you need to know regarding your favorite NFL franchise.
There’s a couple stories to dive into, but the most entertaining was former left tackle Joe Thomas on the diamond. Paired with former teammate and co-host of the ThomaHawk Podcast Andrew Hawkins, Thomas was out there to throw the first pitch before the Cleveland Indians game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Thomas, who is always entertaining on social media, shared some of the action on his Twitter account, while also poking fun at his skills — or lack thereof.

Outside of those two living it up in The Land, there was some discussion going on at OTAs as No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield got some reps with the second team. Of course, head coach Hue Jackson played that down, but who can blame him? There’s no reason to start a controversy in June.
Those stories and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Cleveland Browns: Why Hue Jackson remains head coach – by Backwoods, NFL Spin Zone
"For me, I am onboard with Jackson, for now. I get the impression that men would gear up and follow him through hell without a second thought. As the game of football goes, many already have. It is not an easy thing to find a charismatic leader, willing to jump onto an 0-16 grenade for his men, yet Hue has – twice. He has not run, he has not abandoned those under him. Instead, he stands strong, ready and willing to take whatever comes, good or bad."
Personally, this feels like a pretty rose-colored portrait of Jackson. He’s not seemed like the guy to jump on the grenade for his men, but rather one that would pass that to the nearest scapegoat. He doesn’t deserve to have a job with a record of 1-31, but here we are. Let’s make the best of it.
"Ex-Cleveland Browns lineman Joe Thomas made a career out of smashing opposing linebackers and defensive linemen. But on Tuesday, he turned his attention to smashing baseballs at Progressive Field."
Thomas and Hawkins are living the dream now, and they looked like they had a blast out there with the Indians.
"After working with the third team behind Tyrod Taylor and Drew Stanton for the first two weeks of OTAs, Mayfield served as the backup QB Tuesday in the one session of the week open to the media."

Afterward, Hue Jackson did say this was all about getting Mayfield reps with all the players. That makes sense, and the plan with him probably doesn’t change going forward. It was pretty nice to see that the team does want him to build a rapport with more than just players who could wind up on the scout team though.
