The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know. Today we look at where Duke Johnson’s contract ranks and a new HBO trailer for the upcoming ‘Hard Knocks’

On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns were making headlines once again. They’ve been making more moves than just about every team — except maybe the Los Angeles Rams — and another hit the wires Thursday afternoon.

It was rumored that running back Duke Johnson was working towards a new deal and the explosive back and the Browns came to an agreement on a three-year extension.

The move gives him a lot of money, putting him in the range of a top-10 back in terms of pay. That story is one of the central pieces in today’s Daily Dawg Tags, but it’s not the only thing we will look at.

HBO Releases Trailer for ‘Hard Knocks’ Featuring the Cleveland Browns – Mike Chiari, Bleacher Report

"“After going 0-16 last season and 1-15 the season before, the Browns made significant changes to their roster. That included trading for wide receiver Jarvis Landry and quarterback Tyrod Taylor; drafting quarterback Baker Mayfield No. 1 overall, cornerback Denzel Ward No. 4 overall and running back Nick Chubb in the second round; and signing running back Carlos Hyde.”"

No matter what your feelings are about the effects the HBO series ‘Hard Knocks’ has had on teams, there has to be some excitement about seeing the Browns up close and personal. This trailer has to get you pumped for that.

Browns reportedly pay Duke Johnson like top-10 running back with three-year extension — Sean Wagner-McGough, CBS Sports

"Before landing a new deal, Johnson was scheduled to become a free agent after the coming season. Now, he’s getting paid like a top-10 running back and is a part of the team’s long-term vision."

The Browns have some solid running backs, but there’s a lot of cheddar being spent. If Johnson is a top-10 back by pay, then that means Cleveland has two such players as Carlos Hyde is actually being paid more.

Martin McConnell looks at the recent extension signed by Duke Johnson and asks what it means for the Cleveland offense going forward. Spoiler alert: the running game looks awesome.

Cleveland Browns: Brewing up some Bold Predictions for 2018 – Backwoods, NFL Spin Zone

"An 0-2 start to the season will result in Tyrod Taylor being traded or benched by week three, allowing Baker Mayfield to take the reigns. Despite the 0-2 start, the Cleveland Browns will finish the season with a remarkably improved record of 10-6."

The other bold predictions in this list don’t sound so ‘bold,’ but at least this Spin Zone writer has the team finishing with a great record. Still, trading Taylor sounds like an incredible long shot.
