Stud: Baker Mayfield

As soon as Mayfield entered the game on Thursday night, it seemed like the momentum instantly shifted the Browns way.

Coming in for the injured Taylor, Mayfield led the Browns on multiple scoring drives. Once Mayfield entered the game, the Browns outscored the Jets 21-3.

Mayfield was not afraid to put the ball in tight windows, which helped open up the entire Browns offense, especially the run game. For the game, Mayfield completed 17 of his 23 passes for 201 yards. He also caught a pass for a two-point conversion that closely resembled ‘Philly Special’ from the most recent Super Bowl.

With the confidence and accuracy that Mayfield delivered the ball against the Jets, it almost seems like a foregone conclusion that he will be the starting quarterback when the Browns travel to Oakland to face the Raiders next Sunday.

He only played a little more than two quarters, but he was making throws that many NFL quarterbacks can’t make or are afraid to make. With how he challenges the defense, it creates a bunch of opportunities for big plays for the Browns offense.
