Cleveland Browns receiver Antonio Callaway entered a not guilty plea for his charges of marijuana possession and driving on a suspended license, which leads off our Daily Dawg Tags

After missing all of the 2017 season suspended by the University of Florida, Antonio Callaway entered the NFL draft and the Cleveland Browns took a chance on him in the fourth round. It wasn’t just a gamble because of his suspension while with the Gators.

Callaway also went to the NFL Scouting Combine and failed a drug test — which placed him in the league’s substance abuse program before he ever saw the field.

Then he had some more bad press as he was cited for marijuana possession and driving on a suspended license during training camp.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

He hid it from the team, which was concerning, but Callaway claims the marijuana was not his and the car was just shipped to him from Florida.

He now has his chance to explain that in court as he entered a plea of not guilty to his charges. That story and more can be found in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.

Browns WR Antonio Callaway pleads not guilty to marijuana, suspended license charges

"Cleveland Browns receiver Antonio Callaway pleaded not guilty Sept. 27 to misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license related to an August traffic stop, according to NFL Network and Ohio.com."

Callaway contests the marijuana was not his and the license issue was due to his move from one state to another. Since he entered the league in the substance abuse program — due to a failed test at the combine — the league could also look into action, although there has been nothing said yet by the NFL’s office.

Browns elevate DB Jeremiah McKinnon; place DB Terrance Mitchell on injured reserve — ClevelandBrowns.com

"McKinnon is 5-11, 192 pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of Florida International. Originally signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2016, McKinnon spent the first four weeks this season on the Browns’ practice squad. He has also spent time on the Titans’ (2016) and Giants’ (2017) practice squads. He is a native of Miami, Fla."

Mitchell was having a great season for the Browns and looked to be one of their most underrated signings this offseason. His injury will be a tough one for the defense to deal with.

Does it take a CSI crew to watch replays?

Joel Cade doesn’t understand why the league thinks using bits and pieces of information from separate angles during replay is acceptable. The refs are supposed to look for clear evidence of an error on the field, not break out the scientific research to prove their new theory beyond a reasonable doubt.
