Cleveland Browns News: Browns get reality check from Chargers
By Dan Justik
The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news that you need to know, including Sunday’s loss to the Chargers being a reality check.
The Cleveland Browns have shown massive signs of improvement at the beginning of the 2018 season.
The Browns have been competitive in five of the six games this season, and there was a chance that they could have started the season 5-0 if a couple of things fall their way. Instead they fell to 2-3-1 after Week 6.
However, Sunday’s blowout loss to the Chargers was certainly a reality check to the Browns and the fans.

This is still a young team that that needs a lot of growth. They are not ready to be contending for the playoffs quite yet.
In today’s featured article, one Browns writer believes that the Browns being competitive does not mean that they are a winning football team.
Cleveland Browns News
"There’s nothing wrong with being a team that competes, but the Browns were NFL bystanders for two seasons, so the perception was thrown off. In 2016 and 2017, for the 31 other teams, each week meant competing. Each week meant a chance to win."
It is understandable to be excited with the Browns after they start the season at .500 after the first five games. But the expectations need to be tempered for the 2018 Browns, as they are not ready to be a winning football team yet.
Instant reactions to the Browns’ Week 6 thumping
The Browns struggled to get much going against the Chargers and trailed for most of the game. Martin McConnell shared his instant reactions following the blowout loss to Los Angeles.
"Joe Schobert left with a hamstring injury. Schobert hadn’t missed a snap all season before the play with 8:06 left in the third quarter, and played every defensive snap a season ago."
Joe Schobert has been the most undervalued player on the Browns for the past two seasons, and is arguably one of the better linebackers in the NFL. If Schobert’s hamstring injury forces him to miss games, the defense will certainly not look the same.
It is time for Hue Jackson to call out the officials
The Cleveland Browns fell victim to more bad calls from the refs against the Chargers, and Joel Cade believes it is time for Hue Jackson to become much more vocal about the poor officiating that is going against the Browns.
