Cleveland Browns News: Baker Mayfield’s Pro Bowl Path
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including players like Baker Mayfield being selected as Pro Bowl alternates
On Tuesday Night, the Cleveland Browns found out they will be having a couple of players named to the Pro Bowl as Myles Garrett and rookie Denzel Ward were chosen for the all-star event.
Outside of those two, there were six other Browns named as alternates. Whether it be for injury or playing in the Super Bowl, several players skip out on the festivities every season which opens the door for players like Baker Mayfield who made the list as a backup option.
For the rookie quarterback, it’s quite an honor as his former head coach — Hue Jackson — seemed to be of the belief that all rookie quarterbacks were better off holding a clipboard. He was wrong, as Baker continues to show.

Cleveland Browns News
Browns DL Myles Garrett, DB Denzel Ward headed to Pro Bowl — Andrew Gribble, ClevelandBrowns.com
"“Six other Browns were named alternates: OL Joel Bitonio (first), RB Nick Chubb (second), P Britton Colquitt (second), WR Jarvis Landry (third), QB Baker Mayfield (fourth) and OL Kevin Zeitler (fourth).”"
While the big story is the two players who made the Pro Bowl outright, Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and four other players made the cut as alternates — and with the way things usually go, several of them could end up making the cut. The biggest surprise is likely Kevin Zeitler not making the list because he’s been one of the best guards in the game.
Cleveland Browns next America’s Team? Joe Thomas says YES! Really?
So former Cleveland offensive tackle Joe Thomas thinks the Browns should now be America’s Team. That’s not how nicknames work though says Mike Lukas, who looks back at Tugboat Tobey’s longing for acknowledgment during his Spider-Man heyday.
Cleveland Browns make case for Clay Matthews to make the Hall of Fame — Ben Axelrod, WKYC.com
"“In a video posted to Twitter, several of Matthews’ former teammates, as well as Cleveland interim head coach Gregg Williams, can be seen making their pitches for the 4-time Pro Bowler. Spliced between are Matthews’ highlights and Hall of Fame credentials, including the 1,595 career tackles (1,561 solo), 69.5 sacks, 16 interceptions and 27 forced fumbles he accumulated over the course of his 19-year career — 16 seasons of which were spent with the Browns.”"
There’s no legitimate reason that Clay Matthews isn’t already in the Hall of Fame. It’s nice to see former, and current, Browns trying to right this wrong.
