Cleveland Browns News: Looks like Freddie Kitchens is in future plans
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the team apparently having future plans for Freddie Kitchens
There’s been much talk and speculation about the Cleveland Browns plans at the head coach position — and they’re doing their due diligence on that front as they’ve had several interviews completed and many more lined up. They also have a guy on staff who seems to be a hot name around the league.
Several teams have asked to speak to offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens about vacant coordinator positions, which makes sense considering how well he did in the final eight games of the season after taking over for Todd Haley. And to date, the Browns have been blocking those requests.
Obviously, if the Browns are saying no they must have something in store for Kitchens in the future. On that front, we do know they plan to interview him for head coach — which is still a possibility.

Browns block interview requests for Freddie Kitchens — Herbie Teope, NFL.com
"Cleveland’s unwillingness to allow Kitchens to entertain a lateral move at the moment doesn’t come as a big surprise, as Kitchens is scheduled to interview for the vacant Browns’ head coach position next week. The Browns also want the new head coach to hire Kitchens, Rapoport added."
Ian Rapoport was the one to break the news and as Teope said, the plan may be to get a new coach that wants to keep Kitchens on staff. Whether it’s as an OC, or maybe even the head coach, the Browns are wanting Kitchens to stick around.
Josh McDaniels reportedly ‘very interested’ in Cleveland Browns HC job
The name Josh McDaniels has to give everyone pause when thinking of a head coach after what he did to the Colts a season ago, but Dan Justik talks about how reports are now suggesting he’s ‘very interested’ in the Browns head coaching gig.
"Former Cleveland Browns linebacker Clay Matthews did not make the group of finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2019."
Clay Matthews was one of the better linebackers to ever play for the Browns and him not being included as a finalist feels like a snub. He’s sure to get his bust one day, but sadly it will have to wait at least one more year.
