Round 6, Pick 17: Isaac Nauta, TE, Georgia

The Browns found a gem when they signed veteran tight end Darren Fells this past offseason as he became a reliable target for Mayfield, as well as a great help side blocker. However good Fells was for Cleveland, there are certain limitations to his abilities.

On top of this, third-year tight end Seth Devalve was injured all camp and struggled to find the field in 2018, leaving many to wonder about how safe his roster spot is.

More from Browns Draft

A late round investment in a deep tight end class may not be a bad idea for Dorsey and company to consider. Isaac Nauta out of Georgia does not have the flashiest numbers or out of this world production, catching only 30 passes for 430 yards and three scores for the Bulldogs. However, the 6’4 tight end is highly touted for the strength of his hands and his 240-pound frame.

While Nauta does not have the speed to burn anyone deep, he could become a reliable target over the middle of the field and provide the offensive line with a little bit of help protection as well.

Due to the age of Fells and the injury concerns of Devalve, the Browns will most likely find themselves in the market for a tight end to relieve David Njoku every once in a while, and to add depth to that room.
