Round 5, Pick 32: Preston Williams, WR, Colorado State

Already with the addition of Isabella in the third, the Browns could look for a bigger body later in the draft. Here at the end of the fifth, Cleveland takes a risk on a receiver with a checkered past, Preston Williams out of Colorado State. Once a highly coveted five-star recruit who signed with the University of Tennessee, Williams quickly after found himself in hot water after a domestic dispute in just his freshman season.

After an arrest for harassment and domestic violence, while at the University of Tennessee, Williams transferred to Colorado State to resume his collegiate career. Playing only one season as a Volunteer, the former five-star recruit’s draft stock already looked diminished. But again, buddy boy Dorsey has never been one to shy away from a player with a past, especially not in late rounds.

Standing at 6-4 and weighing 210-pounds, Williams resembles another former Browns receiver who has missed time with off-the field-issues; the production matches as well. In his only season with the Rams, Williams nabbed an impressive 96 passes, over 1,300 yards receiving, and 14 touchdowns. If he is still on the board at the end of the fifth, a prospect otherwise talked about in the first, could become Dorsey’s next redemption project.
