The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including if the Browns are working on an extension for Damarious Randall.

Damarious Randall was one of the biggest surprises for the Cleveland Browns during the 2018 season because of how well he played in his first season at safety in the NFL.

Randall played his first three seasons at cornerback prior to joining the Browns, but never was able to generate continued success. When the Browns traded for the 26-year-old in March 2018, they saw an opportunity to move him to his college position at safety and potentially help him improve.

In his first year with the Browns, Randall became a leader for the defense and played a huge role in the defense’s success. And it set him up to be paid well as he is enters the final year of his rookie deal.

"The Browns have had very preliminary talks with Randall’s agent, but nothing that could be classified as negotiations.Ideally, they’d get something done before the season, but it would have to be a blockbuster offer. The deeper it goes into the season, the more Randall will want to test the market."

With how many players the Browns are going to have to sign to big extensions in the next few seasons, it may be tough to sign Randall to the deal that he wants. And if the Browns let Randall walk, they would be losing a big part of their defense. A deal for Randall may limit the team’s cap flexibility, but he may be too important to let walk.
