Antonio Callaway finally in shape?

Antonio Callaway being stuck with the second-team offense during the first week of training camp was quite surprising. He came on strong during the second half of 2018 and emerged as a play-maker. His ability to stretch the field with his speed made it seem like he was a perfect option to be the No. 3 wide receiver next to Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

But after receiving praise from the coaching staff and Baker Mayfield during the offseason program, Callaway could not get any snaps with the first-team offense, even being passed over by Jaelen Strong and Derrick Willies for first-team reps. It was not until Thursday that it became known why Callaway was not working with the first-team.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Thursday that Callaway showed up to camp out of shape and spent the first week working back into shape. After having his best day of camp on Thursday, Callaway started to get reps with the first-team offense on Friday.

With his speed, Callaway is a hassle for many defenses because he can break a big play wherever he is on the field. But the biggest question about Callaway is his consistency and if he can become a reliable receiver. If he can become more consistent with his hands, he has the speed and route running to be a dangerous weapon for the Browns offense.
