Another player to keep an eye on is Willie Harvey, the undrafted linebacker from Iowa State University. Undersized at 5-foot-11 and roughly 230-pounds, Harvey was all over the field for the Cyclones, but there were questions about how he would hold up at the next level.

So far, he’s seemed to hold his own and had three tackles in their first preseason game and two more the following week — he also batted a pass down. In fact, he was rather dominant in that fourth quarter, making life hard on Chad Kelly and the Indianapolis Colts.

He was quiet in the third game, which is unfortunate considering the buzz he generated the week prior. Harvey can still make the team though, but needs to have a big game against the Lions to do so.

Currently, linebacker is a strong position for Cleveland with Joe Schobert, Christian Kirksey, and Genard Avery serving as the top three at the spot. Behind them is Adarius Taylor as well as third-round draft pick Sionne Takitaki and fifth-round pick Mack Wilson.

That leaves Harvey most likely fighting with Ray-Ray Armstrong for the seventh spot — should they keep that many. He’s shown good instincts and a lack of fear when going in for the tackle. Should he keep that up and impress this week, he may find himself on the roster.
