Greg Robinson and Joel Bitonio need to dominate

The Browns offensive line was over-matched last week in San Francisco. But who could blame them? The 49ers sported three top-10 picks along their defensive line. Fortunately, this week will be easier against the Seahawks.

The Seahawks pulled off an early season trade with the Houston Texans for edge defender Jadeveon Clowney. He along with Quinton Jefferson are the defenders on the defensive line who are playing well. Unfortunately, they predominately line up on the right side of the offensive line.

Conversely, this means  left guard Joel Bitonio and left tackle Greg Robinson will line up against the less productive half of the Seahawks’ defensive line. Not only are they less productive but per Pro Football Focus, they are playing below average (subscription required).

This means the Browns have an opportunity to establish the running game early. The strength of the Browns offensive line against the weakness of the Seahawks’ defensive line. Opening up the running game should put Nick Chubb in a good position to dominate the game.

Establishing the run early will be key. The Browns have one of the league’s best rushers in Chubb. Establishing the run will also open up the passing concepts out of play-action. This was the formula the Browns used in Baltimore to the tune of 40 points.
