The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look at their incredibly ugly Week 9 performance

A loss in Week 8 to the New England Patriots hurt but the silver lining for the Cleveland Browns was the ‘easier schedule’ that they were about to get into. With only two teams left to face with winning records, the Browns hoped to make a run and get back into the AFC North race.

That clearly isn’t happening as they were knocked off once again, this time by the Denver Broncos who were led by Brandon Allen, a quarterback make his first ever start.

Even worse than the loss was the ugliness surrounding the team. They had several miscues, including Baker Mayfield not looking Odell Beckham‘s way with the game on the line. There was also some noise made about unauthorized shoes, and a Twitter tirade that included a threat from one of the players to fans and a radio host.

Cleveland Browns News

Browns S Jermaine Whitehead gets Twitter account suspended after threatening radio host — Ben Axelrod, WKYC.com

"“For Jermaine Whitehead, the Cleveland Browns’ 24-19 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday may have just gone from bad to worse.Moments after the Browns’ latest defeat came to an end, a Twitter account that appeared to belong to Whitehead sent threatening tweets to fans who had criticized his play, as well as 92.3 The Fan radio host Dustin Fox.”"

The loss was painful to watch but this was unbelievable. Jermaine Whitehead had a rough game and when criticized, he completely lost his cool and there’s likely to be some serious repercussions for this tirade.

Browns’ season slipping away with another uninspired showing in Denver — Dan Labbe, Cleveland.com

"“There’s no other way to sum up a miserable afternoon out west as the Browns opened what was supposed to be the easy part of their schedule. Except when you make everything hard on yourself — when every yard feels like one of the mountains in the background of the stadium and defenders look like they’re trying to tackle one of those mountains — there are no gimmes. There’s no easy part of the schedule.”"

Once again, the Browns trotted onto the field acting as if the task ahead of them would be easy. And once again, they walked away with a loss. It’s clear now that this team isn’t making any second-half run. The only real question is who survives and makes it to 2019.

“Leader” Jermaine Whitehead sounds off on Twitter after tough loss

Whitehead’s explosion was bad on its own, but what makes it more frustrating is the fact that defensive coordinator Steve Wilks had previously said he looks at this young safety as a leader of their defense. Ryan Murphy discussed that following the Twitter rant.

Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry told to change cleats or be pulled vs. Broncos

"“To this point in his first season with the Cleveland Browns, Odell Beckham Jr. has made more of a statement with his fashion than his play. But in the Browns’ matchup vs. the Denver Broncos on Sunday, the officials had a message for both Beckham and teammate Jarvis Landry: Tone it down or take a seat.”"

There were many fans on social media that felt as though the refs were picking on OBJ and Landry when they were told to change their cleats, but the fact is the players weren’t following the rules. Sure, it could be argued that it’s a dumb rule, but it’s still in place and the fact that these players are stubbornly defying such small rules is just another example of how little discipline this roster has.

Freddie Kitchens is the wrong coach for the wrong time

Many of us wanted Freddie Kitchens to be the guy and were happy when he was named head coach of the Browns. However, as Chris Markoch points out, he’s not the right coach for what Cleveland needs right now.

Baker Mayfield ignoring Odell Beckham a cause for concern

On Cleveland’s final possession, Baker Mayfield never even looked at OBJ, which is a travesty. Instead, he tried to force it to Jarvis Landry who had twice as many targets as the best player on their offense. Matt McFatridge looks at that decision and believes it’s a reason to be concerned.
