The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the team making hires to their coaching and front office staff on Thursday

Thursday was a busy day for the folks in Berea. The Cleveland Browns are working to finalize their staff and added a couple of assistant coaches as well as a front office consultant.

The coaches added don’t have familiar names, but the consultant does. Ryan Grigson was brought in by Andrew Berry who previously worked with him in Cleveland. Back in 2017, Grigson served in a similar role before going to the Seattle Seahawks in 2018.

Grigson is best known for his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts as their general manager. To say things went poorly would be an understatement as he whiffed on several draft picks and free agents, which really kept them from capitalizing on Andrew Luck’s short tenure.

Other than Grigson, the Browns hired Scott Peters as the assistant offensive line coach and T.C. McCartney as an offensive assistant. Those stories and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Former Colts GM Ryan Grigson rejoining Cleveland Browns front office

Ian Rapoport broke the news about Ryan Grigson coming back and our own Dan Justik has his take on him beginning his second stint as a consultant for the Browns. While his time in Indy wasn’t a success, Andrew Berry can learn from that and does at least have someone now with experience as a general manager.

Scott Peters named Browns assistant offensive line coach — Andrew Gribble, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“Since he retired from the NFL in 2008, Peters has opened an MMA gym, won multiple Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world championships and launched “Tip of the Spear,” a proprietary instructional training and skill development system for football coaches and players. Now, Peters is tackling a new challenge in his first full-time NFL coaching gig, where he’ll work alongside the Browns’ most experienced leader, offensive line coach Bill Callahan.”"

An NFL journeyman during his career, Peters has done well for himself outside of football. Now the former interior offensive lineman gets to work alongside one of the more respected offensive line coaches in the league in Bill Callahan.

T.C. McCartney named Browns offensive assistant — Andrew Gribble, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“McCartney, who comes to Cleveland after serving as the quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos, got his start in the NFL with the Browns in 2014 as an offensive assistant under Kyle Shanahan.”"

Grigson isn’t the only former Brown to return as McCartney worked with Shanahan in Cleveland. That’s a good coach to learn from and the Browns are happy with this addition.
