The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the team exploring the idea of pursuing a top free agent.

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said during his introductory press conference that he and the rest of the front office would aggressively pursue adding talent. With the Browns in a window to be contenders, adding talent to immediately improve the roster would be beneficial.

Although the Browns are expected to conserve some of their cap space this offseason, they still around $58 million in cap space, according to Spotrac. They may also add to that number as there are more cuts from the current roster expected.

With that much cap space, Berry can decide to be aggressive in free agency. And with offensive tackle being an area of weakness, Berry can use some of that cap space to improve the position in free agency.

Browns will explore LTs Trent Williams and Jason Peters now that Williams can seek a trade and Peters will be free – Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"The Browns also have a strong connection to Peters, who spent the 2019 season in Philadelphia with the Browns’ new GM Andrew Berry, who was an assistant GM to Howie Roseman.Peters, 38, would be more of a stopgap measure than Williams, but would still give the Browns an elite player at the position."

It seems like the Browns are planning on signing an offensive tackle in free agency, as well as drafting one with their first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Although he is at the end of his career, signing Jason Peters to pair alongside with a rookie offensive tackle could help the development of the rookie while still getting solid play from a veteran without having to hand out a lucrative multi-year deal.

Cleveland Browns should consider signing Jason Peters

Following the news that the Philadelphia Eagles were letting Peters test the free agent market, Grant Puskar believes that the Browns should pursue the 38-year-old offensive tackle when the free agency period begins.

Ranking the Cleveland Browns’ biggest 2020 offseason needs – Ben Axelrod, WKYC.com

"Like most teams, the Browns have multiple needs. None, however, is more glaring than their current hole at offensive tackle. With Cleveland having moved on from Greg Robinson and Chris Hubbard coming off a disappointing 2019 campaign, the Browns could be in the market for two starting offensive tackles. At the very least, Cleveland needs a new starting left tackle and some depth."

The Cleveland Browns need at offensive tackle this offseason is one of the clearest needs in the NFL. There is no question that the Browns will be adding at least one offensive tackle, but the question is who will they pursue and if they will go after the top tackles available. The Browns can go a variety of directions this offseason, but not landing an offensive tackle this offseason is not an option.
