The Browns move back to the offensive side of the ball with their second pick of the third round, this time taking an interior offensive lineman to add some depth and potentially start in Ohio State’s Jonah Jackson.

Jackson spent his first three seasons at Rutgers before transferring to Ohio State for his senior season. He is great in pass protection, and is a sturdy anchor that doesn’t often get pushed back into the quarterback. He is also a very solid run blocker, and does a great job at getting up to the second level to open up space for the ball-carrier.

Jackson would be a great pick here late in the third round, as he fits exactly what Stefanski wants to do with a zone-run concept. He was very successful at run blocking in that system when given the opportunity in college, and will be given plenty of opportunity to with the Browns.

Perhaps the best thing about Jackson is his ability to play any position along the interior of the offensive line. That kind of versatility goes a long way in the NFL, and provides depth within itself, as you can be moved around when needed if an injury or anything else happens.

All-in-all, Jonah Jackson has everything you look for to be a solid and productive starting interior offensive lineman in the league. Much like Andrew Thomas, being paired with one of the best offensive line coaches in the league in Bill Callahan doesn’t hurt either.
