The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including J.C. Tretter standing out as the NFLPA president.

Cleveland Browns center J.C. Tretter was named the president of the NFL Players Association this offseason, and he has quickly made his impact known for the players. Since the start of his tenure, Tretter is making sure the players in the NFL are well informed about any negotiations between the NFL and the Players Association.

Tretter’s impact quickly became known when he helped lay out the blueprint for the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement before the players voted for the deal in March. Although some players may have already placed their vote, Tretter wanted to ensure the players knew exactly what they were voting for.

With a college degree in industrial labor relations, Tretter was well prepared to take over as the NFLPA’s president. In his short tenure in his role, he is proving that education was well worth it.

Browns’ JC Tretter, NFLPA president, pumps brakes on report of possible June minicamp – Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“A lot of the other leagues are trying to figure this out right now and trying to piece it together, and we still have time. I wouldn’t say we’re at the point where we need to make an agreement. We’re going to keep sitting back and making sure we make the right decisions for our players.”"

Despite a report Tuesday that the NFL could be holding minicamp’s in the near future, Tretter made it known that no such deal has been agreed upon, and even poked holes in the report. Tretter wants to make sure the players are protected from the COVID-19 pandemic, so he will certainly not lead the NFLPA into a rushed agreement to get the players back on the field quickly.

Sione Takitaki preparing to ‘fly around’ in 2nd year on Browns defense – Anthony Poisal, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“Last year, I was preparing for Combine stuff. This year, it’s just specifically football,” Takitaki said. “Last year, I was learning where I should line up, and I was playing slow. Now, with all these new coaches, I can come in and play fast.”"

Being able to play confidently and play fast is important for linebackers in the NFL. With a year under his belt, Sione Takitaki will have more opportunities to grow as a NFL linebacker, which will be important considering he will be in line for more defensive snaps.
