Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know

We all know there’s a ton of pressure on Baker Mayfield — but he more than welcomed it. When coming into the NFL, Mayfield said he wanted to be the No. 1 overall pick while proclaiming he was the guy who could finally turn the Cleveland Browns franchise around.

He ended up going first to the Browns and set the NFL record for touchdown passes by a rookie. Unfortunately, he was unable to follow up that campaign with any more success as Cleveland was just 6-10 in his sophomore campaign.

Anyone who watched the Browns play last year understands that not all of the issues were on No. 6, but we also know that the quarterback is the one who gets all the blame when things fall apart.

With all that being said, Mayfield has a lot to prove this year and one “unnamed talent evaluator” says the biggest thing he needs to show is that he is a leader.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Baker Mayfield needs to show the Cleveland Browns he can lead — Chad Porto, Factory of Sadness

"“Baker Mayfield got ripped by an unnamed talent evaluator over his inability to lead, something he needs to show the Cleveland Browns he can do.”"

Porto does point out that Mayfield is on his fourth head coach and second general manager in his third season, which means he should get a pass on some of the issues from 2019. Still, this is a huge year for Mayfield as the excuses aren’t going to be there if he can’t turn the Browns into a winner.

Browns likely inquired about trading for Yannick Ngakoue, could still target Jaguars pass rusher, per report — Cody Benjamin, CBS Sports

"“The Cleveland Browns have not been shy about pursuing big-name pass rushing help this offseason. Multiple reports have indicated they’ve made lucrative offers to free agent Jadeveon Clowney. The team has also been tied to former Minnesota Vikings starter Everson Griffen. Now, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, their target could be Jacksonville Jaguars holdout Yannick Ngakoue, who’s repeatedly voiced his desire to be traded and may have already prompted inquiries from the Browns front office.”"

Cleveland could view Ngakoue as a perfect complement to Myles Garrett and it’s hard to argue against that logic. The question is whether or not they want to give up the resources it would take to land him and then if they would be willing to give him the massive contract he wants to sign in 2021. That could end up being a bit too much to do at this point.
