Round 2: Trey Smith, IOL, Tennessee

While the Browns did add two offensive tackles this offseason in Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin, they didn’t address the interior of their offensive line until the fifth round of the draft when they took Washington center Nick Harris. And even with that pick, Harris is expected to be a reserve for the time being, although he could end up being the replacement for J.C. Tretter down the road.

That means that addition has no impact on the right guard spot which looks to be Wyatt Teller’s for that taking. Originally, it looked as though Teller could battle with Drew Forbes but with Forbes opting out of the season, Teller seems to be running unopposed.

While there’s a chance Teller could prove to be worthy of holding the job down long-term, there’s just as big of a chance the Browns will need to find a new starting right guard in the offseason. Here we predict they will be back to the drawing board, leading to the selection of Trey Smith out of Tennessee. Smith considered entering the 2020 NFL Draft but elected to return for one more season, hoping to improve his stock — while also proving he can stay healthy, since durability has been a concern of his.

In this mock, he makes it into the second day of the draft and the Browns gladly pick up the 6-foot-6, 325-pound Smith who makes the entire line better.
