3. Don’t forget about Sendejo

This offseason, the Browns added Karl Joseph in free agency as they signed him away from the Las Vegas Raiders. They also drafted Grant Delpit in the second round out of LSU. Both of those safeties are getting a lot of publicity, and for good reason. They’re both incredibly talented and should be the number one and number two safeties for the Cleveland Browns this season.

Second-year player Sheldrick Redwine is also starting to make some headlines. The Miami product played well as a rookie, but needed to show some growth this season in order to see the field. So far, he’s been doing that as he has been showing up in several practices making big plays and forcing receivers to work for every reception on him. He’s also come up with a couple of interceptions.

With all that going on, it’s easy to forget about Andrew Sendejo, the other free agent Cleveland picked up this offseason. Sendejo has experience in the Minnesota Vikings defense where he went to work against new Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski in practice when he was the offensive coordinator for Minnesota.

Sendejo had his turn in getting some press on Wednesday. Near the end of practice, he got his hands on the ball was able to pick off a deep pass, reminding everybody that his name should be in the mix when we’re talking about on the top three safeties for the Browns this season. Redwine has a shot at being the third guy — and there should be three starters in Joe Woods’ defense — but Sendejo is not going to make it easy on him.
