Cleveland Browns News: Playoff drought set to end?
By Randy Gurzi
Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know
Week 4 made believers out of many Cleveland Browns doubters. Even at 2-1, there were those who thought they couldn’t hang with the Dallas Cowboys high-powered offense but before long, we saw it was the other way around.
Dallas was unable to match the Browns output as their 307 yards rushing led them to a 49-38 lead. It also has some ready to put them in the playoffs, which would end the longest current drought in the NFL.
We have a long way to go until then, but the Browns do look like a team that’s not only winning, but they’re also getting better every week.

Cleveland Browns News
"“1) The Browns will snap their 17-season playoff droughtThis is a fact. And I predicted it in this space just before the season kicked off. Cleveland’s 49-38 win in Dallas was the single biggest statement of Week 4. The Browns entered the fourth quarter in Jerry World with a 41-14 lead — and, for a while, it looked like they were going to blow it in inexplicable fashion”"
Schein put it in bold that the Browns making the playoffs is a fact. Personally, I stay away from the bold font since I was taught that equated to yelling, and usually yelling at the readers is mean. But this is something worth yelling because this team has a legit shot to end the team’s long stretch without a postseason berth.
"“Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich today gave updates on several injured players, all of whom will be evaluated throughout the week for their availability this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, including linebackers Darius Leonard, Bobby Okereke and E.J. Speed and tackle Anthony Castonzo.”"
Cleveland understands what the Colts are going through as they have had more than their fair share of injuries to deal with. This is a situation worth monitoring as their Week 5 game approaches.
3 Cleveland Browns who have been MIA through 4 games
Greg Newland doesn’t want to be a buzz-kill, but he is looking back over the first quarter of the Browns season and identifies a few players he thought would have contributed more to this point.
"“As for you Browns fans out there, I have a fun fact for you and it pretty much means that Cleveland is destined to go the Super Bowl this year: The Cowboys have only surrendered 49 or more points at home a total of three times in franchise history. The other two teams that did it before Cleveland both went to the Super Bowl (2004 Eagles and 2013 Broncos), so obviously the Browns are going to the Super Bowl.”"
Clearly, Browns fans are not ready to speak Super Bowl, but the 3-1 record is nice. Also nice is the fact that they’re being featured in columns such as this on a weekly basis now. There’s still a lot of football to be played but Cleveland is getting it done early and as long as they continue to win the games they’re supposed to, they will be in the mix at the end of the season. If they also steal a few wins they’re not supposed to, they will be a team that others are chasing at the end of the season. Either way, 2020 is looking good in The Land.
