Stud: Myles Garrett, EDGE

The “where’s Myles” crowd has once again been silenced. After a slow start to the season (purely stat line), defensive end Myles Garrett has performed at a defensive MVP caliber. He was nothing short of spectacular again on Sunday as he had four tackles and another sack, which puts him at a league-leading six for the season.

What’s crazy to watch as a fan is how much attention is given to Garrett. On one play, the Colts right tackle received a chip from the running back, and then a tight end was brought across the formation to get double team him. That’s three guys on one play who focused attention on Garrett just to keep him from getting to Rivers.

There’s no doubt that Garrett was in River’s head all day. In the third quarter when it felt like the Colts were about to come back, the Browns pinned the Colts inside the five-yard line. Garret didn’t get a sack, but he had so much penetration that Rivers panicked and threw the ball away. After the officials sorted things out, it ended up being intentional grounding in the end-zone, which was a safety for the Browns. The play put the Browns up by nine and was a huge turning point in the game.

Garrett has been a stud all season, and the team will need him more than ever next week as they travel to Pittsburgh. At this point, it’s hardly a rivalry as the Browns have only beat the Steelers seven times since their return in 1999. The Browns will enter next Sunday’s game losing or tying 9 of the last 10.
