Last season, he was a fan favorite. This season, he was an older practice squad player. Now in Week 6, Garrett Gilbert is officially a former member of the Cleveland Browns as he was added to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday. This comes just one day after Dallas had to promote Andy Dalton to starter as Day Prescott was lost for the season with a broken ankle.

Gilbert was on the Browns practice squad — as they took advantage of a new rule this season that allowed them to place some veterans on the squad. It was a bit of a risk as teams could easily come in and steal their third quarterback, which is exactly what happened.

For Gilbert, it brings him home as he was a star in high school in Austin Texas and played collegiately at SMU and Texas. The story of his signing and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Report: Cowboys signing quarterback Garrett Gilbert off of Cleveland Browns practice squad — RJ Ochoa, Blogging the Boys

"“Mike McCarthy said in his Monday press conference that the Cowboys would definitely be adding a third quarterback to give them three moving forward. Many speculated as to who this signal-caller could be, and if you had Garrett Gilbert, then you are the winner.”"

Last season, Garrett Gilbert was the Browns No. 2 guy but he was sent down the depth chart when Case Keenum was signed. Now in Dallas, he could find himself the second quarterback again should he be able to surpass rookie Ben DiNucci.

Rashard Higgins, Chris Hubbard stayed ready and delivered on Sunday for Browns — Dan Labbe, Cleveland.com

"“It felt like I have been there before,” Higgins said on Monday. “It was just like, ‘You know what? I miss you. You miss me. Let’s walk together.’”"

Browns fans have really missed Rashard Higgins as of late and it was nice to see him back on the field. It was even better seeing him haul in a touchdown pass as he and Baker Mayfield continued to show a great rapport.

Mayfield happy, not satisfied with Cleveland Browns 4-1 start

Baker Mayfield is happy with the Cleveland Browns 4-1 start to the season. What he’s not satisfied with is how he himself has played. That’s a good sign as he’s not content with what he’s been doing and is trying to get better every week.

Greedy Williams to IR, should Cleveland Browns move on?

Matt McFatridge is asking if the Browns should continue to wait on Greedy Williams after he was sent to the IR on Monday. A former second-round pick, Williams has struggled to stay healthy so far in his young career, which has to be a concern.
