Cleveland Browns: Minnesota WR Rashod Bateman a welcome 2021 NFL Draft target
By Cory Kinnan
The Cleveland Browns and Rashod Bateman fit like a glove
After a 2020 NFL Draft class of immensely talented wide receivers, with the likes of Henry Ruggs III, Jerry Jeudy, Jalen Reagor, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and more, the 2021 NFL Draft features a deep class as well. One of those talented pass catchers is Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman, a player the Cleveland Browns should have circled on their draft boards.
Coming off of a 2019 campaign where he racked up over 1,200 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns for the Golden Gophers, Bateman is back for his Junior season after initially opting out. Playing through the struggles of Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan, Bateman is still racking up big numbers through four games. He is averaging eight catches per game, and has amassed 413 yards receiving and two touchdowns on the season in 2020.
It was reported that the Browns were present at Minnesota’s game against Iowa last night, and one could determine they were there to watch the talented wide receiver in Bateman. This is a wise decision on the part of general manager Andrew Berry and his team as they cover all the bases they possibly can; also, wide receiver may be a bigger asset for the Browns moving forward with the 2021 NFL Draft on the horizon.
It appears the Browns are doing their homework on Bateman, and so will we. Here we look in-depth at Bateman; where he wins, where he shows room for improvement, and what his draft projection this upcoming April looks like.
