Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know
The Cleveland Browns moved to 6-3 on the season with a win over the Texans in Week 10 and there were plenty of takeaways from the game — both positive and negative.
Everyone loved the way they performed on the ground as both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt topped 100 yards. For Chubb, it was a great first game back following a knee injury in Week 4. For Hunt, it was a better game than he has had recently, likely due in large part to the return of Wyatt Teller at right guard.
Now with that game behind us, Scott Patsko of Cleveland.com looks at who were the winners and losers from their victory. That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns News
"“WINNER: Sticking to the planBy halftime of Sunday’s game, the Browns were averaging just 3.6 yards per carry. Nick Chubb, whose return along with Wyatt Teller had been hailed as seriously bad news for the Texans and their league-worst run defense, had just 23 yards on eight carries. That was an average of just 2.9 yards per carry.”"
Patsko was all-in on the running game and praised the team for sticking with it even when it seemed as though the Texans weren’t going give an inch. Eventually, they broke through and the two backs went off. As for the losers, he looks at the poor betters who lost money when Chubb went out of bounds instead of running a touchdown. It was still the right call, no matter who was upset with it.
"“Their biggest issue? Their best linebacker is journeyman Malcolm Smith. However, do not look for this analytical front office led by general manager Andrew Berry to draft one in the first round of the draft. However, Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is a linebacker by name only; in fact, he may just be the perfect overhang in the 4-2-5 scheme defensive coordinator Joe Woods wants to run.”"
Kinnan released his weekly mock draft and once again has the Browns landing Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. The Notre Dame linebacker could be a great fit in Joe Woods’ defensive scheme.
HONOR ROW program recognizes 12 veterans — ClevelandBrowns.com
"“On Sunday against the Texans, the Browns were proud to honor those who dedicated their lives to serving our country. Through our HONOR ROW program, we partnered with the USO of Northern Ohio to recognize 12 veterans in game during the first quarter through a scoreboard feature.”"
The Browns have always been a team that’s about reaching out to the community. This program is another great way for them to give back and honor those who serve our contry.
Why Cleveland Browns should not give Baker Mayfield a big extension
The talk for the past few weeks from those who cover the Browns is what they need to do with Baker Mayfield. There are plenty of believers in No. 6 but just as many who aren’t sure. Zane Harris is still on the fence and thinks Cleveland should take their time in making a long-term decision.
Former Cleveland Browns QB Connor Shaw has new job at South Carolina
Connor Shaw wasn’t with the Browns for long but he was an easy player to root for during his short stint. Now, he has a new job with the Gamecocks as he will serve as the interim quarterbacks coach for his alma mater.
