Cleveland Browns: 3 under-the-radar Eagles to watch in Week 11
By Sam Penix
RB Boston Scott
Miles Sanders has been one of the league’s best runners when he’s been on the field, but he’s also missed some time this season. When Sanders is off the field, Boston Scott has played well in his stead. The 5-6, 200-pound dynamo resembles Darren Sproles in more ways than one, and his big-play ability was on display last week against the New York Giants, as he turned a standard first-down shotgun run into a 56-yard touchdown.
Both Sanders and Scott are effective in the passing game, and the Browns have had some issues dealing with backup running backs this season. Scott has big-play ability, and the Cleveland defense has been prone to big plays. The linebackers and defensive line sans Garrett must play much better than they have this season, and it’s difficult to have much confidence in those two position groups right now.
Scott may not touch the ball much this week, but he’ll be making those touches count. The 1-2 punch of Sanders and Scott isn’t nearly as good as Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but it doesn’t have to be. Las Vegas’s Devontae Booker was a non-factor before Week 8 against the Browns. Scott cannot be allowed to make a similar impact.
The Browns should absolutely win this game, but it also has all the makings of a trap. Cleveland cannot afford to overlook the Eagles, and will need to gameplan not just for the starters, but for these three backups as well.
Too many times we’ve seen the Browns beaten by players no one expected to make an impact, and that cannot happen this week if they want to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
