Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know

Myles Garrett was in a different situation than he’s used to on Sunday. The Cleveland Browns defensive end was at home live-tweeting the game, unable to be on the field with his teammate after testing positive for COVID-19.

Garrett, who has been on a tear this season, had to watch like the rest of us but he had more of a sense of pride than any of the fans. While we all enjoyed the performance of his teammates, Garrett said he was moved to tears by their play.

That’s understandable because he saw Sione Takitaki record his first-career interception — which he took to the house. He also saw Olivier Vernon record a safety, which was just one of his three sacks.

The emotion he felt was touched on by Mary Kay Cabot, which is just one of our stories in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Myles Garrett: ‘I’m smiling and crying, I’m so proud of the DL’ including Olivier Vernon who had 3 sacks in his absence — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“While live-tweeting from home, Garrett watched his fellow defenders come up big in his absence, with three takeaways, including a pick-six by Sione Takitaki, and five sacks, including three by Olivier Vernon.”"

Garrett has been playing well enough to be considered a candidate for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award. If the rest of the defense plays this well when he returns, they could end up being a force in the AFC.

Ravens loss moves Cleveland Browns to second place in AFC North

This was a good day to be a Browns fan. Not only did they win and move to 7-3, but the Ravens lost to the Titans which moved them to 6-4 on the season. J.T. Soderlund points out that this means the Browns are in second place in the AFC North, with a fairly easy schedule left.

Minus Myles Garrett, Browns’ defense delivers win over Eagles — Jake Trotter, ESPN

"“Behind Sione Takitaki’s pick-six and Olivier Vernon’s sack safety, the Browns weathered the rain – and absence of their top defensive player – to knock off the Philadelphia Eagles 22-17.”"

Cleveland withstood the loss of Garrett, and really had a bigger win than the final score indicates. Of course, they were also lucky enough to get Jack Conklin and Cody Parkey back at the last minute, but things could have been much worse for them with how many players were on the reserve list at one point this week.
