Cleveland Browns vs. Jaguars: 3 Matchups that will decide Week 12
By Randy Gurzi
1. Terrance Mitchell/Kevin Johnson vs. D.J. Chark
Jake Luton had been starting in recent weeks for the Jaguars as Gardner Minshew dealt with a hand injury and while the former starter should be ready to go, head coach Doug Marrone decided to make another move. Ahead of this game, he named Mike Glennon the starter — an NFL veteran with a cannon for an arm who has failed to find sustained success in the league.
It might seem as though this would be a big advantage for the Browns but the fact is, Glennon can do some damage if given time in the pocket. He can also get the ball deep and that’s something that could benefit their top receiver, D.J. Chark.
Last season, Chark had a breakout campaign with 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. So far in nine games in 2020, he has 41 catches for 534 yards and four touchdowns. His numbers are down slightly, mainly due to the struggles under center.
For him, the move to Glennon could be a boost as could the absence of Denzel Ward on the other side. After suffering a calf injury, Ward will miss a couple of weeks, which means Cleveland is going to be relying on Terrance Mithcell and Kevin Johnson to go up against players such as Chark.
He might not be an elite name, but Chark can make them pay if they’re not careful, making this the main matchup to watch in Week 12.
